In less than two weeks, the Philippines will hold its national elections. The first to be held with an automated voting system, it is hoped that results will be known faster and be subject to less cheating. The elections mark the end of the nine-year long presidency of President Arroyo, the most unpopular president of the country since democracy was restored in 1986.
